Brand Profile: Givenchy

1952. Paris, France.

A young, 24-year-old Hubert De Givenchy creates his own haute couture house: THE HOUSE OF GIVENCHY.

As a young man Givenchy dreamed of working at Balenciaga; inspired by glossy fashion magazines. He was given his first opportunity to pursue his passion through a family friend as a studio design assistant.

He worked his way up in the industry over a number of years, acquiring recommendations from Christian Dior & Lucien Lelong. Givenchy continued climbing, as he secured the role of creative director at the Schiaparelli flagship store.

His next endeavor was the creation of his own couture house: THE HOUSE OF GIVENCHY.

In 2005, Riccardo Tisci, a young twenty-something Italian designer was appointed creative director and continued the Givenchy legacy.

Givenchy, to this day, remains at the forefront of fashion design, constantly pushing the boundaries, creating works of art that strut the streets and grace catwalks.

Each Givenchy collection possesses common themes that tend to reemerge and repeat in subsequent collections.

Keep your eye out for: animals, elements of spirituality, metal craftsmanship, urban couture, star coding, ambiguity, floral, dark romanticism and geometry.

And so, from its very humble beginnings, Givenchy now dominates the world stage, producing iconic pieces that exude effortless chic and cutting edge style.
