Bambi Northwood-Blyth for Josh Goot

Josh Goot. A name you just can't avoid.
If you don't already know it, get to know it.
Plastered all over runways at home and abroad, magazines, blogs, instagram feeds and featured on every Australian red carpet, Josh Goot has made his mark on the fashion world.

Born and bred in the big smoke of Sydney, he established himself as a designer in 2004 and released his first collection in 2005. Shortly after, winning the 2005 Tiffany & Co. Young Designer of the Year Award for this debut collection. Critics applauded his take on minimalism, his use of clean lines, unique prints and bold colour-blocking.

Goot passionately believes fashion to be an effective medium in which one can communicate any number of things. His collection speaks for itself. Bold and sophisticated, with deep, hypnotic prints. His designs are like nothing I have seen before. The fabrics. The structure. The silhouette. Ground breaking.
Goot believes the way in which a collection is compiled, the lighting used and the music accompanying it can tell an equally important story. This vision, this deeper understanding, sets Josh Goot apart from other designers.

Carollina and I were lucky enough to have the opportunity to meet Josh Goot recently at a luncheon organized by 'The Style Set' and 'Muse Boutique' at Scool Eatery and Bar in Adelaide. Speaking to him and seeing his designs live in the flesh really drove home that which we already knew, he is a master of his craft. A visionary. As he spoke to us about our own pursuits, he spoke with such interest, such depth, such passion. Something that I find is very rare in people today. He was humble and genuine. He was utterly inspiring.

The future is looking bright for Josh Goot. 2012 saw his designs unleashed onto the US fashion scene when Taylor Tomasi Hill, from US Marie Claire, chose to wear his Flower Bomb cocktail corset to the CFDA Awards. Also with the iconic and heavily photographed Christine Centenera, Vogue Senior Fashion Editor, in his corner, his designs are destined for the world stage.
